Odyssey of the Mind (O.M.): 2019, Grade 7, First Place State Championship in "OMER to the Rescue, again." With my six teammates, we built a car that carried two people and could fit in a small suitcase while performing an eight-minute skit. Won invitation to World Finals. 2018. Also won invitations to World Finals in 5th Grade and attended Worlds in 4th Grade. 

 

Athletics

Exeter Varsity Crew:  

  1. 58th, Head of the Charles, Exeter A 8 boat. Top 12 Exeter rowers competed.

  2. 3rd Place at NEIRAs (New England Regionals). Varsity; Boat II, 8-person sweep boat, Spring 2023. 

  3. 1st Place at NEIRAs (New England Regionals). Had an undefeated season; Boat III, 8-person sweep boat, Spring 2022. 

  4. Olympic Development Program, Summer 2022. 

  5. First place for B8 event. Third place for Quad race.

  6. C.R.A.S.H B´s 2k U17 division placed 14th nationally, 2022.

  7. C.R.A.S.H B´s relay U19 division, 1st place nationally (3 teammates) 2022.

Central Maine Ski Club: Nordic racing: freestyle and classic. Racing in middle school races throughout central Maine. Won first place team for Central Maine, winter 2019-2020.

Cony Middle School Cross-country running: Team first in regionals. Individual best, 8th place at the US Track and Field Maine State race.

Tennis: Winter classes and summer camps including Bowdoin College’s Adidas camp. 

 

Arts

Gli Scalatori “GS”: Eight-person Exeter Chamber group with a competitive audition chosen from members of the Concert Choir. Performing pieces mostly by Claudio Monteverdi and other madrigals. Only 2nd-year student chosen. Fall 2021 to present.

Concert Choir: Competitive audition choir focused on Choral Music. Fall 2020 to present. Performed in Puerto Rico, Spring 2023.

Creative writing: published my 1st book, The Monster in the Mirror. 2023

Afroshade: Audition dance ensemble of African dance and music. Spring of 2022 to present.

Musical Theater Club: Co-Head, and Co-founder, Fall 2022 to present. Singing Karaoke, learning about various musicals, and educating classmates about local musical productions.

Winter Main Stage Production: Exeter. Competitive audition for Exeter’s winter musical. Performed as Beetle Juice in a duet of “That Beautiful Sound” in The Bad Side: Songs We Love Sung by the Characters We Hate, Winter 2020.

Cello (classical/fiddle): Member Kennebec Valley Youth Orchestra (first cello): Began playing violin with the Suzuki method at age 3 (cello at 6). Now also playing Acadian fiddle music on the cello with the Maine Pineland Fiddlers.

Congregational Church Choir: Perform with my local church choir in Augusta, Maine. 

 

Leadership

Co-Head, E Proctor: Co-Head of the Environmental Proctors. Leading the Exeter community and Abbott Dorm to greater Eco-friendly practices. Introduced composting in all the dorms. Oversee recycling program. Created an environmental competition between the dorms. Fall 2022 to present.

Student Council: Committee Head of Student Life Committee, Spring 2021 to present.

$10,000 budget. Introduced compostable utensils for take-out, a spice rack for all the dining halls, and student surveys on menu items.

Exonians Against Domestic Violence: Co-Head and Founder, Fall 2021 to present. Started this community group to bring awareness to campus about dating violence and the abusive cycle of power and control.

Proctor: Student proctor for my dorm. Fall 2023-present.

Geography Club: Co-Head, Spring 2021 to present.

Exeter Board Game Alliance: Co-Head and Co-Founder, Fall 2022 to present. Axis and Allies, Risk, Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Game of Thrones the board game, and many more!

Modern Day Slavery Core Values Project: Student Teacher, Fall and Winter, 2021.

Educated students about Modern Day Slavery in its various forms including human trafficking.

Just Breathe Core Values Project: Student Teacher, 2022 Spring to present. Taught people about how to breathe better and meditation techniques.


Community Service

Sexual Assault, Crisis, and Support Center, Winthrop, Maine: 

  1. Organized material to give to women at the hospital who are there for sexual assault exams.

  2. Put together bags filled with socks, soap, and information on community resources for people living without homes. 

  3. Collected entrance fee donations at Designing Women Craft Fair and fundraiser for the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center. Sold raffle tickets. Raised awareness about sexual assault.

  4. Volunteered at Winthrop Art Walk to raise awareness about sexual assault and to raise funds.

  5. Community 5K runs to End Sexual Assault.

Math Tutor: Exeter. Answer student questions about math homework the same way I was helped in my first year. Fall 2023 to present.

Food Bank, Augusta, Maine: Sorted produce, organized food, stacked boxes, cleaned the floors, and washed dishes.

Family Violence Project, Augusta, Maine: Helped to plan a 5K race to bring awareness to the Somerset County Maine community about domestic violence and to raise funds for the Family Violence Center.

Babysitting: Cared for my three-year-old nephew for one week when his parents were away.

Canvassing for Deqa Dahlac: Knocked on doors and handed out literature and talked to residents about why they should vote Deqa Dahlac as the first Muslim woman and first person of color to the South Portland City Council. She won!

Environmental preservation: Canvassing for a citizen’s initiative to stop the Central Maine Power Corridor through the Maine woods.

 

Summers

2023

CIEE Berlin program: Competitive program for 11 students in Berlin to learn to start and run a B-corporation that benefits the environment or humanity or both.

Sexual Assault, Crisis, and Support Center: Organized material to give to women at the hospital who are there for sexual assault exams. Volunteered at Winthrop Art Walk to raise awareness about sexual assault and to raise funds. Early September 2022.

2022

Farmworker, Ecuador: Lived and worked with tenant farmers in Urcuqui, Ecuador. Immersion Spanish. August 2022.

Olympic Development Program for Crew: Trained in Tennessee, rowing and erging. Competed at the end of the summer race in two events: B-8 and B-quad. We received first place in the B-8 event and 3rd place in the B-quad event. June-July 2022.

2021

Seeds of Peace: Competitive application. Intensive dialog for finding resolutions to issues and learning new perspectives. Campers came from all different religious, ethnic, racial, geographic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Otisfield, Maine, 2.5 weeks. July 2021.

Entrepreneurship Club: Brainstormed and designed ideas for small businesses, such as selling affordable sweep boats to nearby schools.

Buddhist Meditation Club: Weekly meditation and spiritual discussions.

Outing Club: A club where you go out and explore the outdoors. Fall 2021 to present.

Daniel Webster Debate Society: Attended competition at Andover. Spring 2021.

Peer Pal: Answered questions of prospective students, Spring 2021.

Exeter Tour Guide: Lead tours for prospective students, Fall 2021 to present.

Democratic Club: Discuss the political structure of our society. Fall 2021 to present.

Sunrise Exeter: Focused on helping the environment. 2020-2021.

ESSO Beach Clean Up: In this club, we learn about the contamination of the oceans and do hands-on clean up of beaches around Phillips Exeter. Fall 2020-present.

SMART Cities: A club creating technological solutions to Environmental problems. 2023

Environmental Action Committee: In this club, we push Phillips Exeter to do more environmentally and work on our own projects to make our community more environmentally friendly. One of the projects this year is a sustainable dorm competition. Spring 2022-present.

 

Business

Two-year apprenticeship with a local Maine businessman. Designed a Maine-based Card game: Magnificent Maine.
